ABOUT
Leiston High School is an inclusive, community High School for students aged between 14 and 19 in an area close to the Heritage Coast but taking students from the small towns of Leiston, Saxmundham and from the many surrounding villages.
The School is based on an ethos Achievement for All and on the efforts of a staff team who are committed to ensuring that every student achieves their potential and develops the self confidence and self esteem to contribute effectively to society. We are constantly striving to improve what we do for students through some very strong partnerships with our parents and through a very supportive Pyramid of schools in which staff work together for all children and young people aged 5 – 19.
The success of the High School is dependent on the input of every teacher in our Leiston Pyramid over the time the student has spent in school. Increasingly, a majority of students stay on at our Sixth Form and enjoy a full choice of traditional academic subjects, some excellent enrichment courses, several cutting edge vocational options as well as a superb environment in which our Year 12 and 13 students take real leadership of our younger students. We value innovation amongst our staff and we are developing the ability of students to take real responsibility for their learning and for helping us improve what the school can offer as each year goes by.
We are also a community school. We run a successful adult education programme, there is a Youth Club on site which is open both lunchtime and evening, and community groups take advantage of our site and excellent facilities.
I hope that you will find this site helpful and informative, whether you are a parent, a prospective parent, job applicant or if you just happen to want to find out more about us. We value your views about this site and about our school. Please take the time to feed back your views through the links on the site. If you are a prospective parent, then you are welcome to tour the school with me by contacting the school during the working week.
